PEAK: Colo Dems laying low as U.S. Capitol braces for massive anti-Israel protests

(Colorado Peak Politics)

The nation’s capital is preparing for a siege as furious demonstrators declare a day of rage leading up to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s joint address of Congress Wednesday.

Not since Jan. 6 have Capitol Hill police faced demonstrators on this scale planning to surround the Capitol and protest inside the complex.

Some of these coalitions led by Palestinian groups have already been ejected from inside the complex and hundreds arrested.

Vice President Kamala Harris will not be there to preside over the joint session, which is her job as vice president. She’s on the campaign trail at a sorority event in Indiana.

Nearly 100 members of Congress also refuse to even listen to the prime minister’s message and will instead boycott the joint session of House and Senate members.

As Democrats waffle on supporting Israel, Peak is keeping a close eye on which members of Colorado’s Democrat congressional delegation will be in attendance. So far, none have signaled their intentions.

Protestors have prepared this spreadsheet of which members of Congress plan to be in attendance.

Boycotting Democrats include U.S. Sens. Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and the usual radical progressives including the Squad.

This time, law enforcement is using fencing and bike racks to keep protestors from entering the U.S. Capitol and threatening members of Congress and the prime minister, the Washington Post reports.

PAGE TWO: Caldara: Men don’t talk about suicidal thoughts, but they should

(Complete Colorado Page Two)

A friend just told me of his relatively recent suicide attempt. Like me he’s around 60 years old. Unlike me he survived a great deal of war trauma in the military. And trauma will come for you sooner or later no matter how far down and how long you bury it.

The suicide rate for men my age is staggering. Don’t call the suicide hotline on me for what I’m about to say. Trust me, I’m not suicidal. But I completely understand why men my age cash in their chips, and I can respect their desire and even their right to do it. I just hope they choose not to.

Modern society has done spectacular work on appreciating women’s issues and encouraging women. The number of young women going into the STEM field is a result of a lot of societal attention on that goal. By the numbers, in a few years it’ll be hard to find a male doctor or attorney.

But in this great societal advancement we’ve lost an empathy for the challenges men go through, because to focus any special attention on men is seen as just another example of the male dominated, good-old-boys, boys-will-be-boys, society that we’re trying to escape.

I’d speculate nearly all men my age have seriously contemplated suicide for a variety of reasons. I’ll tell you mine.

I was very scared to become a father.

PEAK: Colorado GOP taking members to court is the dumbest election year move, ever

(Colorado Peak Politics)

Donald Trump’s call for unity was lost on the Colorado Republican Party, which filed a lawsuit against some of its own members after returning from the most exhilarating GOP Convention of a generation.

Now that Democrats have kicked old Joe aside and nullified their primary elections and disenfranchised 14 million voters, Republicans more than ever need a united front to beat them in November.

Yet the Grand Old Party under chairman Dave Williams can’t stop fighting amongst themselves for five flipping minutes to ensure that happens.

The state party is now taking their own county officers to court to stop the grassroots members from calling a meeting of the central committee to vote on whether Williams and other state party leaders should be removed from office.

Rather than standing up to the challenge and making his case against the charges, which are many, Williams is wasting the party’s money with a frivolous lawsuit.

The charges are these:

That Williams used official party funds for his personal campaign for Congress, likely breaking federal election rules.

That he used Republican Party money from donors to attack fellow Republican candidates in other key races.

He weaponized the party and broke long-standing rules to endorse candidates in the primary using a bogus litmus test.

And to no one’s surprise, except maybe Williams, voters rejected nearly every one of Williams’ choices.

Joy Overbeck over at Complete Colorado’s Page Two writes:

Some are convinced Williams will refuse to leave office even if he is voted out,

PEAK: Government allows ranchers to kill wolves to protect working dogs, but not pets

(Colorado Peak Politics)

Lost in all the breaking political news recently was the decision by Colorado Parks and Wildlife allowing ranchers to use deadly force when protecting their working dogs against an attack by gray wolves.

The vote came Friday while all eyes were on President Biden COVID watch, the worldwide CrowdStrike tech outage, and on the heels of the wildly successful Republican Convention.

So, no one noticed except for a few newspapers.

Th,e Summit Daily News broke the story Saturday, and reports that Commissioner Chair Dallas May claimed the protection of working dogs was “inadvertently” left out of state regulations.

This inadvertent accident lasted for seven months after 10 wolves were relocated to the state in December. Gov. Polis personally opened the cages to set them loose on the Western Slope.

More than 30 cattle and sheep have been reported as killed by gray wolves since 2021, plus three dogs, reports Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

The new protection rules only applies to guard or herding dogs, not pets.

No “Oops!” or apology was offered for the inadvertence.

PAGE TWO: Armstrong: Will the grownups in the Colorado GOP please stand up

(Complete Colorado Page Two)

Conservatives justifiably have expressed outrage over Democratic Rep. Steven Woodrow’s Tweet suggesting that the problem with the attempted assassination of Donald Trump was that it generated “sympathy for the devil,” and over Woodrow’s non-apology apology “that [his] words caused additional pain.” The state Democratic Party condemned Woodrow’s remark.

Unfortunately, conservatives and Republicans in Colorado often have been far too reluctant to condemn hateful and violence-promoting rhetoric in their own camp. Three people (of many) who promoted the sort of election conspiracy mongering that led to the January 6 violent assault on the U.S. Capitol now are the Republican candidate for president (Trump), a member of the U.S. Congress (Lauren Boebert), and the chair of the state Republican Party (Dave Williams).

True, various Republicans currently are trying to remove Williams from his post as state chair following the GOP’s remarks that “God Hates [Pride] Flags” and that people should burn all such flags. And Republican voters rejected Williams’s brand of lunacy in the Fifth Congressional primary, a contest Williams pursued while state party chair.

Following the violence against Trump, Boebert recklessly said, “Joe Biden is responsible for the shooting.” She later doubled down, making the absurd claim that Biden issued “a direct call for an assassination” of Trump.

The tiny grain of truth to Boebert’s claims is that, on a phone call with donors, and in the context of the political election,

PEAK: Colorado Dems trampled democracy, pushed out Biden then danced on his grave

(Colorado Peak Politics)

When President Biden finally succumbed to three weeks of harassment by Democrat lawmakers and abandonment by billionaire donors to drop out of the race, Colorado Dems hailed him as a hero.

Finally, the elections of 14 million U.S. voters had been overturned so party bosses could install their next puppet. As has become clear, that’s how democracy works when Democrats are in charge.

U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen was the only Colorado Democrat who added her name to the list of House members pressuring Biden to abandon the 3,900 delegates he won fair and square, by deceiving U.S. voters. She broke up with him in an X post.

Let’s be clear. The Democrat Party perpetrated a massive fraud on the American voters. They knew Biden was in severe cognitive decline when they rolled him out before the primary elections even began and branded him as their only hope to — air quote — save democracy.

When their fraud was exposed in that fateful debate with Donald Trump, their own media vultures closed in fast, and Dems had no choice but to throw Biden under the bus.

But the old man steadfastly refused to cross the street for nearly a month.

When Biden finally cried “uncle,” Pettersen called him a true patriot who had put the American people first.

“Joe Biden is a big reason I am here today as a member of Congress, and he continues to make me proud with the issues he has championed and selflessness he has shown,” Pettersen said.

PEAK: Is Polis too white? Or will his DEI creds be enough to win a VP spot with Kamala?

(Colorado Peak Politics)

Editor’s Note: This article was written before President Biden dropped out of the race, but we’re running it anyway because our political forecast is holding true. That includes our prediction about Polis’s chances after his bizarre coconut tree posts when Kamala emerged as the presidential frontrunner.

President Biden is scheduled to be in Denver July 28 for a fundraiser hosted by prominent LGBTQ philanthropist Tim Gill with Gov. Polis as the special guest — but hold onto your checkbooks!

The Democrat Party is determined to protect democracy from Donald Trump’s rambling speechifying by upending their own primary elections and forcing Biden off the ticket because he had a bad debate night, a cold, jetlag, and now COVID.

Biden’s political health is expected to be code red by next week, and yet we predicted that would happen this week, so …

Meanwhile, Polis’s name has already fallen off the lips of Washington insiders as a possible replacement should/when the old man is wheeled out the door.

The booby prize for Democrat voters appears to be Kamala Harris, who will need a vice-presidential pick from the left’s wheel of diversity, equity and inclusion — no plain old white folks allowed.

Colorado political pontificator and former state Republican Party chair Dick Wadhams predicted the Veep pick could be Polis because he holds the gay card and the Jewish card with pretend libertarian leanings.

Ready for a Jared Polis Vice Presidency?

PAGE TWO: Gaines: 9News paints Trump with guilt by association brush

(Complete Colorado Page Two)

Most reasonable people, myself included, do not believe in guilt by association.  Though I won’t claim perfection, I do try to be reasonable–judging people by their actions and stated beliefs and not necessarily by who might be in their circle of acquaintances.  Politics is a different animal, where people routinely try to sell you guilt by association.  Sometimes that includes the journalists who cover politics, and 9News reporter Marshal Zellinger recently offered a pitch perfect example of this in a story sloppily painting Donald Trump with the guilt by association brush.

Democrats have made lots of political hay talking about Project 2025, a work product of The Heritage Foundation, a conservative group.  It’s not a stretch, then, to imagine that Next on 9News would cover it.  Like any business, they want to provide what their customers ask for.  Despite this, I found Zelinger’s story, insofar as it’s not clearly labeled as opinion, striking.  I say that because while the article touts itself as one in a series providing “an in-depth look at how America’s choice for president will impact Colorado,” in practice it amounts to “witness the hellscape that you would engender by voting for Trump.”  And it’s neither a fair nor honest effort at that.

In other words, Zelinger tries mightily for guilt by association with Trump and Project 2025, placing the two together so that some of the stink will rub off.

There’s just one problem here,

PAGE TWO: Rosen: One proud American and a pair of ingrates

(Complete Colorado Page Two)

On July 4, an inspiring column in the Denver Gazette by Luige Del Puerto, a native of the Philippines, expressed his pride and gratitude to be an American.  He did so on the 12th anniversary of the day he and his wife took their oath of American citizenship – while holding their one-year-old son in his arms.

Most of us are familiar with the section of that oath that reads, in part, “I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all agents foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law…”

But he also cited the first part that reads: “I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen.”  That doesn’t mean one has to forsake their roots and fondness for another country.  Italian-Americans, for example, who become U.S. citizens can still love Italy.  But the U.S. now becomes your chosen first loyalty.

Of course, you can recite that clause with no intention of honoring it just to get the benefits of citizenship in a country you really dislike.  And you can even run for Congress.  Which gets me to what stimulated this column.

The antithesis of Luige Del Puerto’s heartfelt love of America is what I regard as two of the most detestable members of the U.S.

PEAK: Polis blew his shot of being the first gay, Jewish, VP pick with these emojis

(Colorado Peak Politics)

Colorado Democrats are rallying around Vice President Kamala Harris to replace her boss on the Democrat ticket for president.

Gov. Polis, not so much.

Polis posted this tweet shortly after President Biden made his historic announcement Sunday that protecting democracy meant ignoring the will of 14 million Democrat voters, and that he had succumbed to the party bosses forcing him out of race.

WTH, right?

It took us a few Googles to decipher what coconuts and trees had to do with Kamala Harris. Then we hit pay-dirt.

Any shot Polis ever had of being chosen as the first gay, Jewish vice-presidential candidate just disappeared in a puff of emojis.

Thank you, @jaredpolis, for clearly demonstrating what an unserious presidential candidate @KamalaHarris is.

The nation agrees with you.#copolitics https://t.co/yXmBiWVYro
