Deion Sanders: Colorado Could Have 4 1st-Round Picks Including Shedeur, Travis Hunter

Pro Football Hall of Famer and Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders believes that his team could have four first-round picks in the NFL draft, including his son (quarterback Shedeur Sanders) and two-way star Travis Hunter.

“Certainly, we have two guys that are positioned to go in the top five in the draft [Sanders and Hunter], but I think we’re going to have two more that’s going to sneak in that first round,” Sanders said at Big 12 media days on Wednesday (h/t ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura).’

As for the others, Sanders said: “Let me give you B.J. Green. I’m not going to tell you the fourth.”

Green is an edge-rusher who transferred from Arizona State. He’s coming off a 39-tackle, six-sack season.

Bleacher Report’s way-too-early 2025 NFL mock draft from last April has Hunter going fifth overall and Sanders slotting in at No. 14. No other Colorado players made the cut.

Hunter could easily be a top-five choice, given his incredible athletic versatility.

Obviously, NFL players don’t participate on both sides of the ball on a full-time basis, but Hunter, whose primary position is cornerback, could in theory moonlight as a wideout on the next level, like his current coach did.

“The ‘D’ on Travis Hunter’s chest above says it all,” the B/R NFL Scouting Department wrote, referring to the letter representing the word ‘dawg.’

Sanders could very well be QB1 from a draft class that has no clear leader at the position going into this year. Any of a number of players could take those reins, including Georgia’s Carson Beck, whose gotten some good recognition after a successful 2023 season. Sanders is getting some love as well, and he can certainly fulfill his father’s draft vision.

PEAK: New ad targets Caraveo’s White House visits, cover-up of Biden’s health

(Colorado Peak Politics)

A new ad targeting Colorado’s freshman congresswoman from the new 8th District reveals the Democrat made numerous White House visits in recent years yet remained silent about President Biden’s mental failures.

The ad comes on the heels of an investigative report from Fox News that U.S. Rep. Yadira Caraveo and several other House Democrats from critical swing districts traveled to the White House a combined 133 times during Biden’s tenure, met with him privately, and yet remained silent about his deteriorating condition.

Caraveo made seven visits to the White House, four just last year.

Her race against Republican Gabe Evans in the November general election is ranked a “Toss Up” by Cook Political Report.

The ad describes the cover-up by members of Congress as the scandal of the century:

“Our president lacks the mental fitness for office, and Yadira Caraveo covered it up. Caraveo met privately with Joe Biden. She witnessed Biden’s mental failures up close. But allowed crises to rage under Biden’s frail leadership.

“Now Yadira Caraveo ignores our concerns, saying whether Biden is fit for office is “up to the voters.”

“Tell Yadira Caraveo to stop defending Biden when she knows the truth.”

The Fox News report says the questions surrounding Biden’s mental acuity have “plunged the party into crisis and continues to drive a wedge between Biden loyalists and elected officials in swing districts ahead of next month’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago.”

NRCC Spokeswoman Delanie Bomar said the meetings with Biden were revealed through the release of White House logs and criticized Caraveo for remaining silent about the president’s fitness to serve.

PEAK: Biden’s frailty predicted to be fatal for critical Colorado Democrat elections

(Colorado Peak Politics)

Shit just got real for Colorado Democrats now wringing their hands over the political impact of Biden’s mental frailty on down ballot races, including their own.

The outlook for several state House and Senate Democrat candidates is looking bleak, according to the numbers crunched by Deep Singh Badhesha, a strategist for Denver Democrats.

“Dems rather be polite to an old man’s ego than save democracy,” Badhesha posted on X, along with the toss up forecast for numerous districts.

Colorado Democrats may feel insulated from a disastrous Biden ticket, but we are NOT!

If Biden underperforms 2020/22 by his current polls, then Dems are set to lose 9 (NINE!) House Reps & 2 Senators.

Oh, happy day.

This is the best prediction we’ve heard since a fortune teller at the state fair back in the 90s assured us climate change would not leave Colorado’s ski mountains barren with just a trace of snow by the 2020 season.

A critical poll memo taken after the debate that was leaked to the media shows Trump solidly ahead in swing states, and within the margin of error in Colorado by a mere 1.9%.

Democrats here were hoping to solidify a super majority in the state Senate by picking up just two seats in November,

PAGE TWO: Talk radio’s Randy Corporon out at 710 KNUS after non-renewal of contract

(Complete Colorado Page Two)

DENVER — Longtime 710 KNUS on-air talent Randy Corporon has hosted his final show on the talk radio station, after being notified that they would not be renewing his contract.

Corporon and Salem Media Group, which owns KNUS, are currently in a legal battle over remarks made by Corporon and others following the 2020 presidential contest that claimed the election was a fraud.

On June 29th, Corporon took to the air waves for his usual three-hour segment, but announced at the beginning of the show that it would be the last after station management gave him the contractually promised 30-day notice that his show was being canceled.

KNUS did not return calls from Complete Colorado seeking more information.

Corporon has been hosting “Wake up with Randy Corporon” for more than a decade.  One of the top elected Republican Party officials in the state — National Committeeman — Corporon’s program has been a conduit for he and other like-minded members of the party to spread their messages, including one that landed he and KNUS in court after Dominion Voting Systems executive Erick Coomer filed a defamation lawsuit for what Coomer called “false claims of fraud in the 2020 election.”

The suit alleges that Corporon and KNUS “elevated Dr. Coomer into the national spotlight, invaded his privacy, threatened his security, and fundamentally defamed his reputation through a relentless election fraud campaign.”

Coomer has settled out of court on several other similar suits,

PEAK: How Colorado’s lawmakers voted to require U.S. citizenship proof to vote

(Colorado Peak Politics)

House Republicans this week passed legislation requiring voters provide proof of U.S. citizenship to cast ballots in elections for presidential races and Congress.

The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility or the SAVE Act would require voters register in person using identification such as REAL ID, passport or other identification proving birthplace.

Democrats insist no law is needed because forms ask potential voters if they are legal residents. And who would just lie?

Colorado’s entire Democrat delegation voted against the bill including U.S. Reps. Diana DeGette, Joe Neguse, Jason Crow, Yadira Caraveo, and Brittany Pettersen.

Colorado’s Republicans, including newly elected U.S. Rep. Greg Lopez of the 4th Congressional District, outgoing U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn and Lauren Boebert voted in support of the measure.

The bill passed on a 221 to 198 vote, with only five Democrats siding with Republicans.

State election officials would be required to ask for this proof of citizenship before registering new voters in those elections, which would surely make Jena Griswold’s head explode.

Luckily for her, whoever is running the White House these days has pledged President Biden to veto the measure.

From Fox News:

It also requires an individual to provide proof of citizenship before registering to vote in federal elections, allows state officials to accept a variety of documents to make it easy for citizens to register to vote and provides states with access to a federal agency database in which they can remove noncitizens from voter rolls and confirm citizenship for those who lack proof.

PEAK: Boebert is a contender to lead Freedom Caucus, now in disarray

(Colorado Peak Politics)

U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert is being touted as the next leader of the House Freedom Caucus, now in disarray as members fall out over the primary election loss of its current chairman, Bob Good of Virginia.

Good is seeking a recount of the loss he suffered to John McGuire by just 375 votes in the GOP primary, even though the Virginia Elections Board certhiid the results on Tuesday.

Politico reports caucus members are falling out over the loss and ejected one of their fellow caucus members during a Monday night meeting for endorsing Good’s opponent, who was also endorsed by former President Trump.

One member resigned after the 16-13 vote to kick out U.S. Rep. Warren Davidson of Ohio, and others are expected to follow suit, said U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman of South Carolina.

From Politico:

Because Good was initially elected to serve as chair through 2025, he will have to step down early unless he somehow wins a recount. Some members privately bet he remains chair through December and goes out swinging, while others believe he will be pushed out earlier if he officially loses.

Several names are being floated as a potential successor if Good exits early: Reps. Chip Roy (R-Texas), Andy Harris (R-Md.) and Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.).

Boebert is the Republican nominee for the 4th Congressional District seat once held by Ken Buck and is likely to beat her Democrat opponent in this surefire red conservative district in the General Election.

PEAK: Colo Dems splinter on whether Biden can help them stay in power

(Colorado Peak Politics)

Colorado U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet made history last night as the first Senate Democrat to publicly admit Joe Biden can’t win reelection to another four years in office, and the mainstream media love him for it.

Let that sink in for a minute.

Bennet told CNN that Donald Trump will beat Biden in a landslide election and cost Democrats the Senate and any hope of regaining the House.

“I think we could lose the whole thing,” Biden said.

Because that’s what is really at play here — who gets to stay in power.

And the mainstream media are just as afraid of losing access to the establishment palace intrigue inside the Beltway that drives their clicks and ratings.

And neither of them can bear the thought of Trump back in the Big House lobbing insults back at them all, the same way they insult Trump and Republicans every chance they get.

Not one of them has expressed concern about Biden’s health and his “condition,” whether it turns out to be Parkinson’s disease or another degenerative disorder.

They’re just worried about whether he can win against Trump.

That’s why the mainstream media is beating the drum to push him out the door, and Democrats are wringing their hands.

Who cares if the old man is incapacitated over the next four years so long as Jill and Hunter are running things for them at the White House?

PAGE TWO: Caldara: Jared Polis’ presidential prospects

(Complete Colorado Page Two)

(You can listen to this column, read by the author, here.)

When the press gets hold of something confidential it’s rarely without purpose. Leaked stories are leaked for a reason.

After President Joe Biden’s disastrous debate performance, pressure is growing and will grow exponentially to convince him to step aside for a more winnable candidate. The decision is his and his alone, which is a pleasant way of saying the decision lies solely with First Lady Jill Biden. And Jill is not going easily.

So, imagine the surprise that a confidential insider poll was leaked to a small news outlet that shows, post-debate, Biden getting trounced. Done by the Democratic messaging firm Open Labs, the poll shows Trump now winning in most swing states, spelling doom for Biden.

The poll indicates Colorado is still pro-Biden but now only by a razor thin 1.9%, well within the poll’s margin of error.

If this is accurate, Colorado becomes a potential swing state. The state that trounced Trump by 14 percentage points four years ago is now in play.

This is all part of a coordinated escalation to encourage Jill, I mean Joe, to step aside. With every embarrassing senior moment, the small chorus of Democrats demanding he drop out will grow to a passionately loud orchestra.

So, who would replace Biden? According to this leaked poll, the Democrats most likely to beat Trump would be (in order) U.S.

PEAK: DeGette visits the White House as Democrats fret over Biden’s mental acuity

(Colorado Peak Politics)

House Democrats today attended a “come to Jesus” meeting with all the enthusiasm of a funeral procession to discuss President Biden’s deteriorating health that is getting in the way of their party retaining power in the White House.

There was no consensus on how to proceed with the Biden debate disaster that won’t go away, according to Democrat lawmakers hastily exiting their caucus meeting.

INSIDE THE ROOM — The House Democratic Caucus meeting about President Joe Biden’s political standing is starting to empty out.

One House Democrat supportive of Biden told me it “felt like a funeral.”

There is definitely no consensus on Biden. Lots of talk about how difficult…

— Jake Sherman (@JakeSherman) July 9, 2024

One member who attended today’s Dem Caucus meeting tells me, “The morale of the caucus is at historic lows.” When I asked if they’d compare it to a funeral like others have, they said, “That is an insult to funerals.”

— Kadia Goba (@kadiagoba) July 9, 2024

Depressed and divided is the mood for Democrats on Day 12 of Biden’s après debate party.

Colorado Democrats surely attended the mandatory meeting held at Democrat national headquarters just a few blocks from the Capitol.

And yet the state’s House delegation has so far refused to communicate with their constituents about their concerns, if any, that Biden could serve another four years as president.

PEAK: State senator sentenced to scolding for attending a meeting drunk

(Colorado Peak Politics)

The penalty for a state senator who attended a high-profile meeting while admittedly drunk and found guilty of violating the legislature’s rules of ethics will receive a scolding letter as her punishment and told not to do it again.

A bipartisan panel of lawmakers investigated the charges against Democrat Faith Winter of Westminster and voted 4 to 1 that she violated a rule in failing to perform her duties in a matter that promotes public confidence in the integrity of the legislature.

Instead of censure or expulsion, Senate President Steve Fenberg will write a letter rebuking her behavior while urging her to refrain from substance abuse.

Winter, who still serves in a leadership position as the assistant minority leader, had already voluntarily resigned a committee chairmanship.

PeakNation™ will recall the rather contentious Northglenn meeting in April where hundreds of residents turned out to oppose a transitional living center for sex offenders in their neighborhood near a school.

Winter defended the need for such a center. She was also the author of legislation that increased the number of such residential behavioral health beds in Colorado.

She was clearly intoxicated and told by law enforcement in attendance to find a ride home. The following day she admitted to her intoxicated state and said she would seek help for substance abuse.

The Denver Gazette covered the ethics panel’s proceedings:

Winter,
