PEAK: Protestors attack police protecting Capitol. Where was Jason Crow’s outrage?

(Colorado Peak Politics)

Police protecting the U.S. Capitol compound were attacked by violent protesters Wednesday as Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a fiery address to a joint session of Congress.

Yet this time, there’s been no outpouring of outrage by the Democrat lawmakers they protect, including Colorado’s Democrat delegation.

@RepJasonCrow Any comment on this? Or is your support for the US Capitol Police limited to one day?#copolitics

— Matt Engelbrecht  (@MattEngelbrecht) July 25, 2024

The answer is yes, the support of U.S. Rep. Jason Crow and his Democrat colleagues was limited to that one day of violent protests when they could blame Donald Trump.

Thousands protested with only 23 arrests Wednesday, including six protestors who made it all the way inside the gallery above the House floor where the prime minister spoke.

PeakNation™ will recall that gallery is where Crow hid from Jan. 6 protestors pounding on the chamber door who did not get inside.

The protestors blocked traffic and attempted to disrupt Netanyahu’s motorcade route. They were pepper sprayed when they turned violent and tried to push past police to rush inside the Capitol perimeter.

Deion Sanders, Colorado’s 2024 Season Win Total Over/Under Betting Lines Revealed

(Bleacher Report)

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - JULY 10: Head Coach Deion Sanders of the Colorado Buffaloes speaks at the 2024 Big 12 Conference Football Media Day at Allegiant Stadium on July 10, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Louis Grasse/Getty Images)

After a disappointing 4-8 finish to the 2023 season, head coach Deion Sanders is hoping to lead Colorado to a better showing this year.

However, DraftKings Sportsbook isn’t setting the bar too high, as the betting lines were released for the Buffaloes’ season win total on Wednesday with the over/under listed at 5.5. The line for the over is -140 (bet $140 to win $100), and the line for the under is +120 (bet $100 to win $120).

Colorado is set to compete in the Big 12 this season following the dissolution of the Pac-12.

The team’s success will depend largely on the star duo of quarterback Sheduer Sanders, Sanders’ son, and two-way phenom Travis Hunter. They are regarded as two of the best players in college football and potential first-round picks in the 2025 NFL draft, so they will be motivated to prove that they’re worth the hype.

The Buffaloes also underwent a roster overhaul for the second straight year, but it wasn’t as substantial as the 86 newcomers that were brought in ahead of the 2023 season.

“As a team, you’ve got to be able to bond and can’t have no hate toward each other,” defensive back Shilo Sanders, the other son of Coach Prime, told ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg earlier this month. “You can’t [have] poison. We got rid of a lot of poison last year. And this year, we’re in a be

PEAK: Colorado Dem in tight race votes to condemn Harris for border crisis

(Colorado Peak Politics)

Democrat U.S. Rep. Yadira Caraveo in Colorado’s new 8th Congressional District must be really sweating her reelection campaign against Republican candidate Gabe Evans.

How else to explain why she sided with Republicans and voted in favor of a measure condemning Vice President Kamala Harris for the disastrous job she’s done as the nation’s “Border Czar?”

Politico reports Caraveo was one of only six Democrats who crossed party lines to back the resolution.

The vote comes as Democrats and their toadies in the media go on a history-scrubbing mission to insist the planet stop referring to Harris as President Biden’s “Border Czar” because it was never an official government title.

Duh, she’s the vice president. Harris was dubbed with that nickname after Biden made her his point person on addressing the border crisis when it first hit the fan three years ago.

Instead of “Border Czar,” the New York Times would have us call her that person who was “deputized by President Biden with the diplomatic mission of solving the ‘root causes’ of migration from countries like Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, tackling the issues that spur people to flee in the first place, like drug violence and lack of economic opportunity.”

Don’t Say Czar: Kamala Was Biden’s ‘Point Person on Immigration’—Until She Became the Presumptive Nominee

PEAK: Colorado Dems not as unified as reported over Kamala’s coronation

(Colorado Peak Politics)

The media has resumed its bootlicking position as state Democrat Party Chair Shad Murib declares Colorado Democrats unified in coronating Kamala Harris to replace Joe Biden as the presidential primary election winner.

“Colorado Democrats are united, fired up, and ready to deliver our state for Vice President Kamala Harris,” Murib said in an email to the media, which they have dutifully reported.

And by united, Murib said 95% of the state’s convention delegates and the state party’s central committee voted to back Harris during an online straw poll among 300 people.

And yet, Colorado has 632 central committee members and delegates, so that poll is less than half the membership.

With more than half of Democrats refusing to even participate in this unity meeting and poll, we question how unified they’re really feeling about this complete disenfranchisement of grassroots Democrat voters in the primary elections.

PAGE TWO: Jefferson County voters again asked to forever give up overcollected tax refunds

(Complete Colorado Page Two)

LAKEWOOD —Jefferson County voters will be asked for a third time in four election cycles to pass a “de-TABOR” measure, allowing the county to permanently keep and spend over-collected tax revenue that would otherwise be refunded back to county residents under the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR).

This time, however, they have spent more than a quarter-million dollars of taxpayer money on a marketing firm owned by the husband of Congresswoman Brittany Pettersen to convince voters to say yes.

TABOR is a constitutional amendment that, among other things, limits the growth of local government spending to a reasonable annual rate based on inflation and local economic growth. Excess revenue must be returned to taxpayers unless voters give permission to exceed those limits.

According to a news release, the Democrat-controlled Jefferson County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously earlier this month to refer a question to the November general election ballot asking to “to collect, retain, and spend the full revenues from authorized revenue sources beginning in Fiscal Year 2024.”

“It’s important to us that we hear from the community on the level of service that they expect from the county,” County Commissioner Lesley Dahlkemper said, despite the fact the community has told the commissioners no to attempts at overriding TABOR revenue limits twice now in the past two elections.

Commissioner Andy Kerr said the decision was made “in the spirit of TABOR,” despite the actual language of the TABOR amendment saying “time-outs” from revenue limits are only allowed to last four years without asking voters again.

PEAK: Colo Dems laying low as U.S. Capitol braces for massive anti-Israel protests

(Colorado Peak Politics)

The nation’s capital is preparing for a siege as furious demonstrators declare a day of rage leading up to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s joint address of Congress Wednesday.

Not since Jan. 6 have Capitol Hill police faced demonstrators on this scale planning to surround the Capitol and protest inside the complex.

Some of these coalitions led by Palestinian groups have already been ejected from inside the complex and hundreds arrested.

Vice President Kamala Harris will not be there to preside over the joint session, which is her job as vice president. She’s on the campaign trail at a sorority event in Indiana.

Nearly 100 members of Congress also refuse to even listen to the prime minister’s message and will instead boycott the joint session of House and Senate members.

As Democrats waffle on supporting Israel, Peak is keeping a close eye on which members of Colorado’s Democrat congressional delegation will be in attendance. So far, none have signaled their intentions.

Protestors have prepared this spreadsheet of which members of Congress plan to be in attendance.

Boycotting Democrats include U.S. Sens. Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and the usual radical progressives including the Squad.

This time, law enforcement is using fencing and bike racks to keep protestors from entering the U.S. Capitol and threatening members of Congress and the prime minister, the Washington Post reports.

PAGE TWO: Caldara: Men don’t talk about suicidal thoughts, but they should

(Complete Colorado Page Two)

A friend just told me of his relatively recent suicide attempt. Like me he’s around 60 years old. Unlike me he survived a great deal of war trauma in the military. And trauma will come for you sooner or later no matter how far down and how long you bury it.

The suicide rate for men my age is staggering. Don’t call the suicide hotline on me for what I’m about to say. Trust me, I’m not suicidal. But I completely understand why men my age cash in their chips, and I can respect their desire and even their right to do it. I just hope they choose not to.

Modern society has done spectacular work on appreciating women’s issues and encouraging women. The number of young women going into the STEM field is a result of a lot of societal attention on that goal. By the numbers, in a few years it’ll be hard to find a male doctor or attorney.

But in this great societal advancement we’ve lost an empathy for the challenges men go through, because to focus any special attention on men is seen as just another example of the male dominated, good-old-boys, boys-will-be-boys, society that we’re trying to escape.

I’d speculate nearly all men my age have seriously contemplated suicide for a variety of reasons. I’ll tell you mine.

I was very scared to become a father.

PEAK: Colorado GOP taking members to court is the dumbest election year move, ever

(Colorado Peak Politics)

Donald Trump’s call for unity was lost on the Colorado Republican Party, which filed a lawsuit against some of its own members after returning from the most exhilarating GOP Convention of a generation.

Now that Democrats have kicked old Joe aside and nullified their primary elections and disenfranchised 14 million voters, Republicans more than ever need a united front to beat them in November.

Yet the Grand Old Party under chairman Dave Williams can’t stop fighting amongst themselves for five flipping minutes to ensure that happens.

The state party is now taking their own county officers to court to stop the grassroots members from calling a meeting of the central committee to vote on whether Williams and other state party leaders should be removed from office.

Rather than standing up to the challenge and making his case against the charges, which are many, Williams is wasting the party’s money with a frivolous lawsuit.

The charges are these:

That Williams used official party funds for his personal campaign for Congress, likely breaking federal election rules.

That he used Republican Party money from donors to attack fellow Republican candidates in other key races.

He weaponized the party and broke long-standing rules to endorse candidates in the primary using a bogus litmus test.

And to no one’s surprise, except maybe Williams, voters rejected nearly every one of Williams’ choices.

Joy Overbeck over at Complete Colorado’s Page Two writes:

Some are convinced Williams will refuse to leave office even if he is voted out,

Red Sox’s Kenley Jansen Won’t Go to Colorado for Rockies Series Due to Heart Issue

(Bleacher Report)

The Boston Red Sox will be without closer Kenley Jansen for their upcoming road series against the Colorado Rockies.

As Alex Speier of the Boston Globe relayed, Jansen said he will not accompany the team on its trip to Colorado’s Coors Field because he needed his heart shocked in 2012, 2018 and 2022 after pitching there in the past.

He also said he wanted to pitch in Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers even though it was a non-save situation so the bullpen would be fresher heading into the series without him.

Jansen has pitched through heart concerns throughout his career.

Mark Bowman of MLB.com noted in 2022 he was placed on the injured list as a member of the Atlanta Braves with an irregular heartbeat. Bowman explained the right-hander had atrial fibrillation and underwent ablation procedures for his heart after the 2012 and 2018 seasons.

Given that as the backdrop and his history in Colorado, he clearly didn’t want to take any chances.

Pitching in Colorado was something he experienced far more often earlier in his career, as he was a member of the Dodgers for 12 seasons from 2010 through 2021. The Dodgers and Rockies are both in the National League West, so that meant plenty of road trips to Coors Field.

Boston doesn’t play the Rockies nearly as often, although they will face the NL West team f
